Introduction   The following is a brief introduction to webgourmet.org. The topics are ordered such that the more introductory features placed before more involved features.
Is life too short to eat bad food? Is life too short to eat bad food?Yes! You are only two clicks away from the web-Gourmets. All of our features are available to registered users only. Once you register, you will have full access to all of our features, such as creating and searching for recipes, generating menus and shopping lists, networking with friends, etc. To register, simply click on register on the front page and fill a few blanks. You can edit your personal account settings anytime from the links located at the top of the left side bar. How to use the search box most effectively?The search box located at the upper right corner of the site generates
queries on recipes titles and descriptions. The search results can be sorted in
various orders. Notice that the results are grouped by titles. Records with same
title are usually subversions of each other, with the original recipe placed at
the top of the group.
How to add a friend?You can find a friend by either browsing recipes and menus, or searching for a friend by name. Search for a recipe, click on the title to view it, and then click on the name of the author of the recipe to see the user’ personal page, which contains more information about the user. You can also get to the same page by searching for a user by name from the friend search box located at the left side bar. Click on "add as a friend" to send a friendship invitation to the person. How do I create my own recipes?Click my recipes located at the right hand side of the side bar, one or
more "recipe cards" will be displayed in the center portal. Click "create a new recipe".
Fill in the form. Notice in the "ingredients" box, an ingredient written in the form of
"quantity-unit-item" will be highlighted according to context, which implies that
our database has successfully recognized the ingredient you inputted. If the ingredient
you inputted is not highlighted desirably, simply delete the line and try again. The "origin", "occasion", "course"
are featured with auto-completion. You can type if your unique words or select items already
exist in our database. Upon creation of recipe, you can then click on the provided links to edit the recipe
and the related image.
How do I use the Drag & Drop box?Whenever you see the How to use my recipe box?
Drag and Drop recipes into your "Recipe Box" (located at the top of the right side bar) to save
a copy of the recipe. You can then edit the recipe according to your personal preferences to cater to your needs.
Recipes in you personal Recipe Box can be used to generate menus for special occasions.
What can I do with a menu?Menu is a collection of recipes. You can generate menus for specially occasions using recipes in your recipe box. Simply go to my menus, you will see the list of menus that are authored by you. Click on the top menu to create a new menu. Fill in the desired information, add as much recipes to you menu as you like. You can later remove recipes and edit the menu. How to utilize the shopping list?Start a shopping list by clicking on the picture of any recipe and/or menu,
and dragging it to the "My Shopping List" icon on the right side bar.
When ready to generate the list, click on the "view list" next to the shopping
list icon. Enter the desired number of serving, discard any unwanted recipes by
dragging them into the "trash can" at the bottom of the page, click "generate
shopping list" to click and print the list.
What can I make?
What Can I Make helps you to find recipes you can cook with only ingredients you already
have at home. Click "what can I make" from the left side bar, enter ingredients one per
line in the form of Quanity-Unit-IngredientName just as you would in the recipe creation process.
How to share your recipes and ideas by messaging?You can always send a message to your friends by clicking "compose a message" in the
"mail box" located on the left side bar. If you want to include a recipe in your message,
you can simply drag and drop the recipe into your mailbox. The recipe(s) will be saved
in your mailbox for future use. The mailbox portal also shows you if you have any unread
messages or pending friend request.

you can click and drag it into the "Drap & Drop" sidebar to your right. This allows you to
effortlessly add a new recipe into your own Recipe Box, add it to your Shopping List for future
reference, or include it in a new message to one of your friends.
